5 TV Girlfriends That Are #FriendshipGoals!

5 TV Girlfriends That Are #FriendshipGoals!

August 01, 2018

It’s National Girlfriends Day! That’s right, a whole day dedicated to the celebration of girl power and female friendship - because after all, it’s all about lifting each other up! To mark the occasion, we’ve decided to count down 5 TV Girlfriends That are #Friendshipgoals!

Monica & Rachel

Okay, so some may say it’s almost blasphemous to single out one friendship from the “Friends” group. However, Monica and Rachel have possibly the closest and most long-lived relationship in their friendship circle. From high school to the bright lights of New York City, these oddly matched friends have seen each other through new careers, new relationships, and even childbirth - with hilarious results. If that isn’t true friendship, we don’t know what is!

Daria & Jane

For many of us, friendship is built on a list of similar likes. However, friendship can also be born from our mutual dislike, but for Daria & Jane, that’s pretty much everything! Yes, the monotoned animated teen and her sarcastic sidekick burst onto our screens on MTV’s “Daria,” and we’ve loved them ever since. Taking pride in pointing out the shortcomings of others, their unique brand of snarky humour managed to straddle the line between truth and straight up savageness - and we love them for it!

Lizzie Mcguire and Miranda

Our next friendship couldn’t be further removed from the previous. If Daria & Jane were all about sticking it to “the man” Lizzie & Miranda were undoubtedly sugary sweet. The Bridget Jones for the millennial child, Lizzie Mcguire burst onto our screens in her self-titled Disney Channel show in the early 00’s. Complete with her own signature style of platform sliders, tie dye t-shirts, and butterfly clips ( seriously this girl LOVED a butterfly clip!), Lizzie won our hearts along with her loyal friend Miranda. From bra shopping to crushing far too hard on Ethan, watching the pair navigate early adolescence struggles warmed our hearts while letting us know it’s okay to be awkward.

The Sex & The City Cast

Okay, we may now know that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows between the girls offset (we’re looking at you SJP and Kim!) but that doesn’t take away from the magnetic energy they had on screen. Carrie Bradshaw and her three stylish friends explored what it meant to be an independent woman in modern New York while always remaining at the top of their fashion game. From complicated love triangles to cancer diagnoses, their girls have been through it all together and still managed to do it while looking fabulous.

Edie & Patsy

So these two might not be the best role models, but they make being bad look so good. For over twenty years Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone have lit up our television screens with their drunken adventures, giving us endless laughs along the way. The Absolutely Fabulous pairing have traveled the world together, from Paris to Morocco, while looking devilishly chic doing so sweetie. Patsy’s classic sense of minimalistic dressing with a touch of rock’n’roll edge contrast perfectly against Edie’s maximalist approach to style.
