5 Things We’d Tell Our Teenage Selves

Let’s face it, our teenage years were hard. Between acne outbreaks and being constantly socially awkward, there are many elements of our teenage lives that made us cringe. However, in hindsight there are many things we’ve learnt, so we decided to compile a list of advice we’d give to our younger selves.

No.1 Stop Comparing Yourself

We know it’s hard, but it’s really not worth comparing yourself to other people. There are moments in your life where people around you will seem more put together, and other times you’ll feel like you’re ahead of the pack. It’s all a part of life, and your journey is yours alone! Trust us - you’ll be happier when you stop comparing yourself and just enjoy what you were blessed with.

No.2 You Don’t Need To Have All The Answers Now

Psst… we’ll let you into a secret, no one knows what they’re doing! The secret to being successful is recognising that no one really knows what they’re doing, we’re all just bluffing our way through life in the hope things will turn out well. You don’t have to know all the answers, and nor should you be expected to!

No.3 You’ll Get Over Him

Don’t let a buy get you down. Believe us, the chances are if he’s causing you so much heartbreak then he’s not worth it! In most cases your instincts are right, if it feels like he doesn’t appreciate you, he probably doesn’t deserve you. Move on and live your best life girl!

No. 4 Today’s News Is Tomorrow’s Chip Paper

Playground drama should be left right there … in the playground! The drama you experience in your teens will be a distant memory tomorrow and will make you stronger every time. Remember, what people say is usually a projection of themselves and doesn’t define you As you get older you’ll begin to own who you are and naturally distance yourself away from toxic people.

No. 5 Just Do You Boo

RuPaul famously said “If you can’t love yourself how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”, and truer words have never said! The most important lesson we’ve learnt is love ourselves. Taking time to look after yourself and be authentically you is the secret to happiness, so go out there and scream YOLO at the top of your lungs honey!
